Work Hard, Play Hard Austin Greenbelt Tour
Sterling wanted to celebrate a semester of hard work at A&M with a guided mountain bike ride in Austin. Our friends at Cycle Progression pointed him in our direction. He and our guide Tim hit the Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail, toured around Lady Bird Lake, and jumped in Barton Springs Pool to cool down after the ride! Sterling requested a Hardtail Specialized Fuse Comp 6 Fattie Bike for the tour, since he plans to buy a hardtail.
Tim and Sterling would start their ride at the top of the Hill of Life, or the “Hill of Death” for those riding in the opposite direction. They geared up at the trail head and took off down the winding path. The Austin Greenbelt boasts beautiful views of the rolling Texas Hill Country. The rock features along the trail attract rock climbers, hikers, and of course mountain bikers. The trail offers a good mix of singletrack, doubletrack, technical climbs and descents, rock gardens, hucks and long chances to spin.
After completing the trail, Sterling and Tim enjoyed views of the city from Auditorium Shores and the Boardwalk on the Butler Hike & Bike Trail. They were all smiles on their ride. Tim mapped the route on Strava – 16.5 miles! That’s a good MTB ride, especially in this Texas summer heat.
